Toyota Certified vs. New: What’s the Difference?

There are a few key differences between new and certified vehicles that will help make your decision easier. When you’re thinking about what Toyota will work best for your commutes around Houston, The Woodlands, or Conroe, keep these differences in mind!

New

A new Toyota means exactly what it is: brand new! When you choose to purchase a new Tundra, Tacoma, or Camry, you are the first owner of that vehicle. There is no vehicle history, so you can rest assured that your car is in pristine condition and ready for the road ahead.

Toyota Certified

Here at Fred Haas Toyota World, our Texas drivers will shop from a wide range of certified vehicles – all of which are a part of our Toyota Certified Program. These vehicles are pre-owned. However, within this program, pre-owned vehicles need to meet Toyota’s high standards to be considered a TCUV. 

Toyota has two separate certifications: Gold and Silver. Let’s break them down.

Gold Certification

• Vehicles up to 6 model years old & 85,000 miles or less on the odometer
• 160-point minimum inspection
• Includes a 12-month/12,000-mile Limited Comprehensive Warranty
• Includes a 7-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty

Silver Certification

• Vehicles up to 10 model years old & between 60,000 – 125,000 miles on
odometer; outside Gold eligibility

• 136-point minimum inspection
• Includes a 12-month/12,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty

Any vehicle that does not meet the above qualifications is a standard pre-owned (used) vehicle.

There are advantages to both new and TCUV that we’d like our Conroe, Houston, and Spring area customers to consider.
